Community on the move
return to: Who We Are
We are…
… a community on the move, discovering Christ together on the journey of faith.
We see Christianity as a path to be walked together—learning, serving, praying, sharing, and growing alongside sisters and brothers. As we live and practice our faith, we not only encounter a new community; we also find the presence of God.
A community on the move…
For the third year in a row, we hosted Walking Together, a time of accompanying and welcoming newcomers into our congregation during the season of Lent. Many, many current members were once again part of the effort—serving as sponsors or helping in the kitchen or leading small group discussion. We welcomed several new members over the year and blessed others as they moved away from Geneva.
A question: A community in constant flux needs to be adaptable when it comes to volunteer opportunities; we can’t assume that everyone will be able to join a committee and stay on that committee for years. So how can we provide more flexible, short-term ways for people to volunteer their time and abilities in ministry with our congregation? Can we imagine using more short-term ministry teams? What would that change look like?
