2024 Feb streaming tech update

Streaming desk gets more than a face-lift.

Basically a clean up of the organ gallery, but also more. Our artists impression is in this first image:

Firstly a reminder of the installation in the organ gallery since the end of the most severe COVID-19 restrictions.
1. Equipment developed during Covid times was “elevated” to the organ gallery from the Sanctuary floor.
2. A cabled internet connection was established by Dave Lyon and Jonathan Frerichs
3. Our TV monitor was installed on the wall below the organ by Jonathan.
Our aim is to:
a.  eliminate the two camera tripods
b.  provide direct audio mixing access to the multiple microphones throughout the Sanctuary (fixed and radio).
c.  install a decent mixing and control desk, and eventually be able to control sound volume in the Sanctuary and lighting from the same desk.
d.  add an extra camera at the level of the Sanctuary (our switcher has 4 camera capability, only two are currently used).
e. better integrate the TV screen on the back wall of the Sanctuary.

Today camera support has moved from the two tripods to two camera fluid heads mounted on a “shelf” atop the balcony.
This “shelf” has positions for up to four cameras, two are operational.
All new wood will be painted same grey as the balcony.
The clamps holding the”shelf” to the balcony will be used to support the rear of the new mixing and control desk — still some work of cutting and fitting to be done.
Note: the “shelf” construction avoids having weight on the balcony rail, rather on the balcony upper surface.
